BEHIND THE LENS

Brandon Sherrod lives and works in Chicago, Illinois. He is a mixed media artist whose concentration is photography. Sherrod’s most recent series of works is an exploration of the intersection of Art and Science (Mathematics). In 2014 he had work shown in two group exhibitions, ‘Soup’ and ‘Small World’. More recently he has shown work on Chicago’s near southside in the Pilsen district and a solo exhibition on Northeastern Illinois University’s main campus. Sherrod is currently a first year graduate student at The University of Chicago and plans to continue to exhibit his work and venture into teaching in his later years as a practicing artist. His style is often geometric in orientation, but he tends to mix surrealism with abstraction and distortion of light in his current works. His outlook on photography for his recent works is one that tends to use geometric abstraction, dramatically lit compositions, and surreal settings to create this space where Sherrod’s audience can place themselves or attempt to locate this setting on a map.

His current research involves Machine Learning, Geometry, and Color Theory.
